When the winter is mild, many tourists enjoy
undertaking hikes in the beautiful region. One of the most popular
routes leads to the Moussala peak (2925m, highest peak on the Balkan
Peninsula).
The trip takes approx. 6 hours from Beli Iskar and 3 hours - from the last station of the cabin lift.
Excellent Borovets Ski Schools & Beginner Slopes
Borovets has an excellent ski school with over 200 professional
ski instructors, speaking English, German, French and Russian. Group
and private lessons are available at reasonable rates. Beginners
start the week on the nursery slopes but by the end of the week
everyone is heading for the gondola lift and the more challenging
runs.
Borovets' taverns, bars and clubs come alive at night, particularly
in the peak ski season, entertaining locals and visitors alike with
good food, wine, folk singing and dancing. Most of these establishments
are open till early morning, offering good prices and special "happy
hour" discounts. Music played is mostly international dance music.
Very often special shows are presented at the clubs. There are available
restaurants and taverns with Bulgarian national folk music and "horo"
dancing.
"Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees.
The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves."
- John Muir
