The festival of the Riski Zelnik!

  Here are pictures from the lovely festival of the Rilski Zelnik, the event which is taking place every year on the 30th of June in Beli Iskar.
This festival is very famous in Bulgaria and has live on the national TV.
This year the entertainer of the event was a very popular Bulgarian artist.
The Mayor of Samokov and Beli Iskar greeted the guests.
The festival has official and entertainment part.

  Sacred music of Panagurishte, the "girls" from national singing group from Beli Iskar - "Rilski Ruchei", "Shishmanovskite babi", many singers and dancers were the participators in the festival.

  The prize of the best tasty zelnik took an eighteen year girl from Beli Iskar , which was a surprise for the other older ladies , but the tradition of making this pastry is continuing and is not going to be forgotten. The older lady, which has took part with her zelnik was 97 year old grandma from the village.

  After the official part the festival continued with dancing of the national Bulgarian dancers – horo and of course with eating a lot of zelniks and drinking beer.

  Next year the festival is going to happen again and probably many of the guest of Eagle Rock will be there and even make their own zelniks!
